Accelerated Reader National Honor Roll

St. Genevieve Catholic School has shared recent success in our work with Accelerated Reader (AR).  We were named a Master school for six years in a row, and for the last three years we have received the highest national recognition possible by being named a National Honor Roll School through Renaissance Learning.  We are one of only six schools in the nation in which each classroom from kindergarten through eighth grade achieved Honor Roll status and the only school in the state of Illinois.

At St. Genevieve, we believe not only in academic excellence but in fostering a love of learning within our students so that they are inspired to become life long learners.  We believe that student choice in reading fosters a love of literature while promoting quicker growth.  AR comprises approximately 30% of our reading curriculum.  Students work with their teacher and our AR Coordinator/Librarian Mrs. Peters, to set realistic yet challenging goals.  Their reading grade is comprised of not only whole group instruction but also their progress toward quarterly AR goals.
