Jr. High: Grades 6-8

  • Art history – Egyptian, Greek, Roman, Eastern (Indian, Chinese, Japanese), Middle Ages, Renaissance, Realism, Impressionism, Fauvism, Expressionism, Cubism, Surrealism, Postmodernism

  • Highlight artists of various movement

  • Projects related to style of particular art movement

  • Drawing techniques, 3-dimensional projects

 

Intermediate: Grades 3-5

  • Contour drawing

  • Techniques of sketching

  • Introduction of various media: watercolor, pastel, origami

  • Appreciation of cultural diversity through art

  • Projects related to seasons

 

Primary: PK - 2

  • Seasonal art projects that incorporate appropriate use of materials

  • Color wheel

  • Various media: finger painting, watercolor, crayons, colored pencils, etc.

  • Self portrait

Music Curriculum

 

Jr. High: Grades 6-8

  • Exposure to variety of music: Classical, Jazz, Latin, Religious, Blues, Pop, Opera

  • Recognition of composers/performers from each music style

  • Music theory: notation, scales, composition

  • Singing: Hymns, American folksongs, Spanish folksongs

  • Dance unit: Classical and Modern ballet, Jazz, Folk dancing

 


Intermediate: Grades 3-5

  • Exposure to variety of music/composers: Mozart, Chopin, Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, Tito Puente

  • Instrument families: Stringed, Brass, Percussion, Woodwind

  • Music theory: Pitch, tone, basic composition

  • Singing: Hymns, Songs from other cultures

  • Dance unit: Folk dances from various cultures

 


Primary: PK - 2

  • Listening for enjoyment

  • Exposure to music from many cultures

  • Movement with music

  • Rhythm band instruments

  • Singing: Hymns, Nursery songs, Folk songs with gestures

  • Participation in school productions
